Hi, I’m James!

I am a freelance photographer, experiential educator, and content creator. My photojournalism work has been featured in a wide variety of publications and programming, including The New York Times, CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, CBS’s 60 Minutes, MSNBC, ABC, and the BBC, among others. I have also led outdoor adventure and experiential education trips both domestically and abroad for over a decade, for brands such as National Geographic Student Expeditions, New York Times Student Journeys, Putney Student Travel, the YMCA, and Rustic Pathways. As an avid traveler, I have visited nearly 50 countries and 45 US States, with extensive work and study experience in East Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. In 2021, I completed a thru-hike of the 2,653-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. I share my stories of meaningful travel, outdoor adventure, and photojournalism on my Instagram account, @jamesgoesplaces. I am passionate about using my skills and experiences to tell compelling stories and inspire others to explore and learn about the world around them.
